Tracking Holdings
A Holding represents your position in a specific security (stock, ETF, bond, etc.) within an account. It shows how many shares you own and their current market value.
Creating a Holding
- Go to Accounts and select a specific account
- Tap the "+" button to add a holding to that account
- Select the asset type: security (default), cash or custom
- Search for your asset by name or ticker
- Add a transaction for this holding
- Enter quantity
- Enter the price per share or unit
- Enter the date of the transaction
- Save your holding
Viewing Holdings
Holdings List View
The Holdings page displays:
- The asset symbol and name
- The latest price of that asset, in its default currency
- P&L Day The profit or loss for the last trading day
- Open P&L The overall unrealized profit or loss for that holding
- Value / Cost The current market value of that holding and the total amount paid for it (Adjusted Cost Base)
- Qty: Number of shares or units owned
- Alloc: The allocation of this holding vs. all the investments in this account
- Market Value: Total value (quantity × current price)
- XIRR: The annualized gain or loss for this holding
- Realized: Any realized gains or losses for this holding
Editing a Holding
You can edit a holding in order to change its symbol, ex: when you imported the wrong symbol.
- Tap the holding
- Tap the Edit button (pencil on a notepad icon)
- Enter or search for another symbol
- Review the warning at the bottom and tap Save
Transferring Holdings
You can move a holding from one account to another:
- Select the holding
- Tap Transfer (or the transfer icon)
- Choose the destination account
- Confirm the transfer
Recording Asset Sales
When you sell a holding:
- Go to Holdings
- Tap the holding you're selling
- Create a Sell Transaction (see Transactions Guide)
- Enter the number of shares being sold
- Record the sale price
- Note the transaction date
- The holding displays remaining shares
Closing a Position
When you sell all shares of a holding:
- Record a sell transaction for all shares
- The holding quantity becomes zero
- Depending on your settings, the holding will be shown with zero quantity, or hidden.
Tips
- Use corporate action features (splits, dividends) to keep holdings accurate
- Review your holdings regularly to monitor performance
- Use the quantity decimal feature for fractional shares (ETFs, fractional buying)
